In this talk, based on his last Science Advances paper published in 2021, Steven illustrates how the identification of a positive Ir anomaly within the Chicxulub crater peak-ring sequence conclusively ties this ~ 200 km in diameter impact structure to the global Ir layer marking the K-Pg boundary sections worldwide, which saw the demise of the dinosaurs together with ~ 60% of the fauna and flora on Earth, during the Cretaceous-Paleogene mass extinction.
