During the 3rd International Student Conference on Medical Geology and Environmental Health (European edition), which was held online between 26-29 November, 2 PhD students from AMGC presented their contributions in the session "Emerging Contaminants: Challenges and Impacts".
- Sybrien Lievens gave a talk on her PhD project focusing on interactions of microplastics with inorganic and organic pollutants.
- Yiqi Su presented the results of her study assessing the AhR-active compounds in the suspended particulate matter of the Zenne River using effect-directed analysis.
Our FWO Postdoctoral researcher Vendula Smolíková furthermore gave a keynote presentation in the session "Developments in environmental chemistry, geochemistry, and biogeochemistry", where she talked about the evolution and advancement of environmental monitoring with a focus on the application of alternative approaches used to assess the bioavailability of trace elements in impacted environments.
