Dr. Besarta Matranxhi
Biography
Besarta Matranxhi defended her PhD on June 11, 2025, with success on the topic of on the utilisation of CALUX in vitro Bioassay (AhR & ERa) for environmental toxicity screening: Insight into Tribology tests, wastewater analysis, and polluted soil assessement.
Besarta Matranxhi is a PhD student in VUB since October 2019. Her research consists of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) degradation regarding effective processes using the novel technology called ‘tribolysis’. TriboREMEDY project is established between 6 European Partners, where VUB is one of the university partners. The objective of this research is to prove the concept of triboreactor efficient in PCB degradation benchmarked against the existing PCB disposal methods. The reduction of PCB concentration will be determined by using CALUX cell bioassay.
