Eliott Sabourin
Biography
I studied Biology and Geology at the University of Poitiers, France. I then completed a Master’s degree in Paleontology, specializing in vertebrate paleontology and modern analytical methods, jointly at the Universities of Poitiers and Montpellier, France.During my Master’s internship, I worked on the morphofunctional relationships between primate cheek teeth, masticatory movements, and diet. I focused particularly on the genus Theropithecus during the Plio-Pleistocene period across various African localities.Throughout my studies, I also participated in several paleontological excavations in France, including Angeac-Charente (Lower Cretaceous), Bertalas-Nord (Lower Cretaceous), Thézels (Lower Eocene), and Montredon (Late Miocene). My current research focuses on the ecomorphology of mammals from southern African hominin-bearing sites, with the aim of assessing their functional adaptations and investigating the influence of climate and phylogeny on their morphology.
