Ellen Campbell
Biography
I am a prehistoric and landscape archaeologist. I focus on using digital methodologies to aid in survey and excavation recording strategies, remote sensing, as well as using computational methods to reconstruct ancient community networks and broader landscape dynamics. I have worked in archaeology and heritage projects across the world including Australia, the Aegean and Mediterranean, South Asia and southern Africa.
I studied archaeology and ancient history at the University of Sydney (2018) where I used Social Network Analysis to reconstruct Early Bronze Age obsidian networks, and completed a MSc in Archaeological Sciences at Leiden University (2021) with a project on using 3D GIS as a ‘living’ excavation archive. Since 2021 I have been working as a Research Assistant in technical GIS for the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research on several projects with a focus on remote sensing techniques, legacy data, and digital storytelling, and recently began as a Research Assistant for the FWO Junior project on Mediterranean terraces at the VUB.
