Meihui Li
Biography
With a diverse academic background spanning humanities and sciences, including History, Anthropology, and Archaeological Materials Science, my research efforts thrive at the intersection of various disciplines. As a previous full-scholarship holder of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programme in Archaeological Materials Science (2016-2018), my thesis delved into a comprehensive chromatographic study of natural organic dyes in historical Mediterranean textiles by LC-PDA-MS.
My academic journey is complemented by active participation in numerous historical and archaeological surveys. I also undertook enriching Archaeological Science internships in university laboratories. Since 2015, I've been collaborating on a nationally-funded research project, focused on classifying and analyzing Swedish-collected archaeological archival documents from China's borderlands. In 2017, I contributed to a research excavation of a Gallo-Roman site in Gergovie, France. Since 2019, I've played a pivotal role in the Archaeological Database of China project, primarily responsible for categorizing and processing data concerning ancient funerary monuments spanning the Dongzhou Period (770-202 BC) to the Han Dynasty (202 BC - 220 AD). During the pandemic, I participated myself into significant scholarly endeavors such as contributing to the Yearbook of Archaeology in China (2020) and engaging in the Preservation Planning Program of the Jiangsu Maritime Silk Road. My contributions extend to collaborative works with esteemed institutions such as the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Institute of Cultural and Natural Heritage at Nanjing University. Notably, my association with the Sichuan Museum has led to the publication of a paper in the Chinese academy, with another currently in the press.
Currently, I'm excited to be part of the "Welcome to the Dark Side" (WEAVE) project, uncovering hidden aspects of medieval urbanization through integrated studies of European Dark Earths, under the guidance of Prof. Yanick Devos and Prof. Karin Nys.
I wish my engagement in AMGC will reflect a steadfast dedication to scholarly exploration, interdisciplinary collaboration, and advancing public understanding of human past, present and future.
