Research Profile
I am interested in the reconstruction of paleoclimate by employing geochemical techniques on marine fossils. During this internship at the VUB, I aim to test proxy limitations by comparison of different paleothermometers using isotope measurements (oxygen isotope and clumped isotope) on foraminifera.
I am particularly interested in the effect of pH on the calcification of planktonic foraminifera, in order to reconstruct the temperature for palaeoceanographic studies. These applications focus on the evolution of paleoclimatic conditions over the last 3 million years, more specifically the end of the Pliocene.
