Our BA3 Archaeology students from Vrije Universiteit Brussel visited the ongoing archaeological excavations at the Grote Markt in Aalst!
Joined by two AMGC PhD students Pieter Rodts and Dries Vergouwen and Maria Ferretti, a visiting Master’s student from the University of Padua, the group explored the archaeological record up close during an engaging field trip led by Prof Yannick Devos.
The field trip offered a fantastic opportunity to explore the archaeological record up close and learn how to read the stories hidden in the soil. From identifying different soil colours and textures to describing and distinguishing individual layers, our students got hands-on experience in understanding stratigraphy and interpreting the traces of the past.
Thank you to the excavating team from SOLVA for this insightful and educational experience!
