Prof. Dr. Marc De Bie
Biography
Marc De Bie is Prehistorian and Landscape Archaeologist focussing on human cognitive and cultural development in relation to changing natural and social habitats. He started his research career in 1991 as a research fellow at the prehistory lab in Leuven and as a research archaeologist at the Flemish Heritage Institute in Brussels, where he currently directs a team of 12 landscape researchers.
Since 2000 Marc teaches prehistoric art and archaeology at VUB and supervises dozens of master and PhD projects. He is also guest professor of prehistoric archaeology at the University of Ghent.
Marc (co-)authored over 150 papers and several books. He spoke at many international conferences and co-organised some of them. He currently acts as PI of the FWO-SBO Testerep Project “The Evolution of the Flemish Seascape (5000 BP-present)” at VUB.
