Dr. Kevin De Bondt
Biography
Kevin completed his PhD in 2018 and now puts his expertise in urban water management to good use by working for BRUGEL, Brussels
PhD PROJECT TITLE:
How to integrate the physical environment (topography, geology, climate) and the urban-water cycle into water management and urban planning policies
PROJECT SUMMARY:
Acquiring more knowledge on the geographical distribution of the groundwater flows and the physical environment heterogeneity helps city managers to developp multifunctional measures that tackle different problems at the same time: such as floods, combined sewer overflows, pollution of urban aquifers, modification of water-table levels, increasing burden of water treatments, and the urban heat-island effect. This integrated urban-water management policy is less expensive and more efficient than current policies
FIELD SITES:
Belgium, urban watersheds (ground-, river-, rain-, sewer-water)
KEYWORDS:
CRDS Picarro L2130-i (water stable isotopes), The Urban Hdrologic Landscape classification method
